Yorkshire Wedding Photographer – Gareth and Rebecca – The Riley Shot

Gareth & Rebecca

The day began with the girls – Rebecca and her two bridesmaids, Emma and Jeanette – sipping Bucks Fizz (more Fizz than Bucks) when I arrived. The sun was beaming down and the excitement was clear to see. As I snapped away, Emma and Jeanette made sure Rebecca was kept entertained, reminiscing about yesteryear.
As the morning slid away, the nerves began to set in and my favourite time of the day was in full swing. Rebecca’s Mum and Dad popped in to say hello and were there for the moment Rebecca wowed us for the first time in her dress. It really is a special moment when the bride walks out in her dress for the first time, the moment you get to see the excitement and nerves in action as it all becomes real.

As the bride put the finishing touches to her make up, it was time for me to meet the boys – Gareth (the groom), his best man Stephen, the groomsmen Neil, Kevin and his dad Chris. The guests had already started to arrive and everyone was enjoying a drink at the bar. Gareth was hard at work with the registrar, so I took the opportunity to take some shots of the lovely decorations that the bride had made, before I headed back upstairs. The excitement was palpable as we walked around the grounds, chatting about the stag do antics.
Then before we knew it, the time had come…. the last shot is moments before the music started.

Beautiful decorations, handmade by the bride

Another favourite moment of mine, was when Rebecca walked down the aisle. As I looked across to Gareth, his determination not to turn around was astounding and he was absolutely blown away when he first laid eyes on Rebecca. This moment made me realise how lucky I was to be a small part of their big day.

Ready to walk down the aisle as Mr and Mrs

After the ceremony the newlyweds took some time to say hello to the guests and then we were off to the lovely gardens for some photo opportunities in the winter sun.

A loving glance

It wasn’t long before the room was ready for dinner, the drinks were starting to flow and the day was in full swing. The bride and groom came in to a huge round of applause and a room full of smiling faces.

After dinner – you guessed it – was time for the speeches! Everyones’ favourite time of the day. The crowd didn’t need any encouragement to heckle so the pressure was on. You’ll be happy to know that they all went down a treat and before we knew it, the sun was down and we were in full ‘night do’ mode.

A reassuring touch

With the speeches finished, and the arrival of the awesome VW photo booth, it was time for the party to really begin. Everyone was having a blast as I sneakily snapped away, while the bride and groom prepared for their first dance as a married couple.
It was such a beautiful day and like every wedding I do (and even my own!) it always goes far too quickly. Many congrats to the lovely bride and groom – I wish them a lifetime of happiness together.
